Digital Literacy

Digital literacy is a core skill that our students need to live and be successful in the modern world. In CBS primary, we give our students opportunities to learn from, about and with digital technologies. Like books, concrete resources, materials and people, digital technology is just another tool for learning. We have digital resources that are second to none and a digital literacy plan that outlines what we do and what we expect the children know at every level in school. Our students are coding from the infant classes (Beebots) right up to building and coding robots in 6th class (Vex Robotics). They have access to computing at all levels (I-pads at junior levels, shared laptop access in the middle classes and their own device for the senior classes). Technology is intertwined with other subject areas and is used as a tool to co-create projects. Co-operative learning with technology allows our students to engage in the same projects together but each contributing at their ow ability level. We also use technology to connect with other schools nationally and internationally. We do not use technology to replace other forms of learning but rather enhance the experience.
